
In classical sculpture, the figure doesn't relate to its surrounding but only to itself and to the pedestal. The pedestal is the bearer of the figure, without the pedestal, the statue will fall.
We are the creators of the objects that define our world as we know it.
Without us defining them, they are only material and shape. We provide them an immaterial dimension, the figure is the base of the object. Is the definition of subject and object still accurate?
I examine the role of the figure to the material world, in an effort to transcend gravity.
